The existing data center environment at AIIMS required a complete infrastructure upgrade to meet modern operational and safety standards. Critical infrastructure components were outdated and unable to support the performance, reliability, and protection levels expected from a healthcare institution.

One of the major challenges was the dependence on standard air conditioning systems instead of Precision Air Conditioning (PAC), resulting in inefficient cooling management and inconsistent environmental conditions for critical IT equipment.

Additionally, the facility lacked advanced fire detection and suppression mechanisms, increasing operational risks and reducing the ability to identify and respond to potential incidents at an early stage.

The physical infrastructure also required improvement, as walls, ceilings, and flooring were not designed with fire-resistant materials, limiting overall protection for sensitive systems and equipment.

Another key challenge involved unstructured cabling and improper network identification, making infrastructure management difficult and increasing the time required for maintenance, troubleshooting, and migration activities.
